Hello and welcome to Bunker Hill Bulldogges! My name is Holly and along with my husband Justin, we are the owners of Bunker Hill Bulldogges. We live right off of the Columbia River in beautiful Longview, WA . We would like to personally thank you for visiting our website to learn more about this wonderful breed.
I have been an animal lover for my whole life and was always bringing home stray animals as a kid and I just never stopped, lol! As an adult, I have never been without a dog for long and the first breed that I fell in love with was the Great Dane and originally wanted to breed them. It wasn't until about 12 years ago that I met my first Olde English Bulldogge, Sherman and absolutely fell in love with this unique breed. He belonged to my now husband when we started dating, although my husband didn't realize at the time that he was an Olde English Bulldogge, not an English Bulldog as he thought.
When Sherman passed away at the ripe old age of 14, we immediately began our search for an Olde English Bulldogge puppy. Much to my dismay, I discovered that there were not many OEB breeders around, let alone responsible breeders (which is one of the reasons that I decided to become a breeder myself). I found that the breed was still quite inconsistent and it was very difficult to find the proper structure, health, and temperament. I finally found a breeder that I liked and purchased my first OEB puppy, Leonidas. A few months later, I saw a beautiful one year old female for sale and purchased her; I named her Ruby. While Leonidas didn't quite work out as a stud dog, Ruby has been amazing and has produced very healthy bulldogge puppies and her genetics are an integral part of our breeding program.
Our sole purpose of breeding Olde English Bulldogges is to preserve this wonderful breed, so that others can enjoy them as much as we do. Our goal in our breeding program is to develop consistency within the breed, adhering to the breed standard and David Leavitt's vision of a functional bulldog. Creating consistency in a breed is a long process of selective breeding which takes many generations to achieve. Our goal for breeding is for every generation to be better than the last. The only way to know that we are doing right by the breed and heading in the right direction is to perform health testing, genetic testing, and temperament testing on all of our breeding dogs.
We feel very fortunate to be able to do what we love and share our passion with others. We hope you enjoy looking around our website and look forward to any questions that you may have about this awesome breed!
